Is there a cure for prop shaft rust and corrosion in the engine compartment? The packing nut is all green and crusty too.Maybe a light coating of oil? Thanks for any info.

Install a PYI packless shaft seal PSS, this is the best investment you can make in the engine compartment. These shaft seals do not leak or turn green. If you keep the salt water out things will not corrode

...that gives the same performance is to use dripless shaft packing in your existing stuffing box. While the PSS is a great add, if it does break, you have a leak you can't stop. West Marine sells the dripless stuffing material, and emarine.com sells a Gore Tex material that does the same thing. Correct about keeping water out.
