prop paint

After my boat was hauled out for the winter in noticed the prop had some barnacles on it.I painted it with ablative bottom paint & as you can figure out it wore off!!
I went to west marine & there "prop" paint is $239 a pint! ( new prop is about that!lol).So my question is, what can I paint it with that's would last the season & not make me go broke?
any suggestions would help.

Petit zinc prop paint. If it doesn't work, you didn't apply it correctly. Probably $20 can which will last years.

Ditto this. I've had good success with Petit zinc prop paint.

Never noticed any effect over the many years of use nor have I ever heard anyone suggest that or say it caused a problem.

I too have had prop barnacle problems over the years and have tried many anti-fouling prop products: most were a waste of money. The last two seasons I applied 2 generous coats of Interlux 2000E then brushed on (not sprayed) 2 liberal coats of Trilux 33. It worked much better. Most of the coatings will wear off by the time you pull your boat but you'll see very few barnicles. Others in my marina tried it using regular bottom paint and claim they got similar results. A quart of 2000E and the pint of Trilux 33 will last several seasons.
