if you are concerned about the splines in the hub ....just carry it to a prop repair shop and have a new hub pressed in ....
sorry for the dumb question, but what's "pressing in a new hub", sounds like a big job, yeah? the hub is the red arrow in the pic, right? This is just for future reference, I don't think I'm going have this done now.

Hub: The central part of a wheel, or that about which something rotates. In your case, it's the splined part of the propeller.

The red line in your photo points to what is usually called the "lower unit".

the hub is the rubber part with the female spline molded in to it ...it is installed by pressing it in to the body of the prop....it takes a strong hydraulic press to do this ....most prop repair shops have the hub in stock and they do this all the time ...if your splines are good and the hub is not slipping in the prop you may not need to do this but if you have bad female splines then have it replaced....as i said earlier weigh the cost against a new prop and make a choice on what you need to do.....with the smaller props some times it cheaper to just replace the prop....
