New boat to me with inboard diesel , when sailing prop spins is this the proper or should i put engen in gear to try and stop it from spining? thanks Gary

put it in reverse

it's normal, I switch to reverse.

Most Should be in Reverse

The transmission isn't being fully lubricated with the motor off and the spinning shaft causes excessive wear to the clutch plates.
