I have two 30 amp lines coming into the boat, both monitored with a dual Promariner monitor. The monitor alarms that both lines have no ground. I changed power cords and used two different shore power source plugs, problem seems to be in the boat. I don't know where the galvanic isolation capacitors are mounted in a 356. My first thought is to clean up these connections as well as the two shore power connections. Can anyone give me a guess on the capacitor location ?
thanks, Bob

My 2003 426 had the same issue. I found out that the Pro Mariner unit had issues and is no longer manufactured. I needed work done due to a lightning hit and found out about the problem from Mid Shore Electronics in Cambridge, MD – frank@mid-shore-electroniocs.com The Pro Mariner was replaced by two Newmar Galvanic Isolators model GI-30 – www.newmarpower.com You might also consider calling Pro Mariner for confirmation.

Look in the dead space between the shared bulk head lavatory wall and above and behind the nav station. Also do a complete checkout to see if you have any lose connections on the back of your breaker service panel for any loss of ground this maybe the cause . I have found in the past some poorly secured connections both on the 12 volt side and 120 volt shore power side that the hunter factory slipped up on!
Some of the things I have had to deal with on my own have been battery bank 2 bad fastener wire connection to battery ...bad ground connection to protec 4 battery charger causing overheating and damaged circuit board and wiring..... Many lose screws for wiring connections to most of the breakers along with poorly done crimp connections. Also discovered my cruise airrrrr air-conditioning unit was not a new unit when first installed at the factory someone at the factory swapped out the new unit that was meant for my boat with an older unit.

Bob, I have the same Promariner unit (ProSafe One for dual 30 amp) and was getting intermittent ground fault alarms only when the air conditioning was running, and usually in the middle of the night. No other issues with the unit and I could not find any wiring issues. Promariner suspected the monitoring function and recommended disconnecting the alarm panel from the unit as monitoring is no longer required by the ABYC code, so now I have a dead panel at the chart table, a pretty poor solution IMHO.

Attached is a troubleshooting guide they sent me.

thanks for the info guys, we have had a full day just moving aboard so have not had a look at it yet. I must say, so far my experience with Promariner has not been good so not surprising their unit is likely the problem. I will go over the connections and test the isolator, if all looks good I'll disconnect the monitor and find something to fill the whole in the panel.

I'll let you know if any surprises show up, Bob
