No biggie, but I brought my spin pole in and replaced the snaggly wire it had on the clip with a "Cobra Knot" (Solomen Bar or Portuguese Sinnet)

Actually, I replaced my Halyards last year and all my dock lines and main sheet this year, and was looking for something to do with all this weathered line I have accumulated...

Thinking of tying a floor mat or some such for the boat so been looking up knots, this was a little practice weave.

Squidd,

Do you think the ice will ever melt??

Spin poles should have a single trip line that connects the two jaws, allowing you to open either one depending on which way you pull. This is most important for the outboard end, which is often over the side of the hull and unreachable when sailing.

Uhh OK....

Except my outboard end doesn't have a clip, just a rope hook and pulley....

Not a spinaker pole..?

Nope. A reaching strut.

Its used (optionally) with symmetrical spinnakers when reaching; it helps hold the guy away from the boat so you do not bend stanchions, and the grinder has some leverage on the pole.
