I have just aquired a severly neglected 1978 ODay 30 that I plan to restore and live on, full time. The hull and keel are in great shape and the yanmar diesel works well, but thats about as far as it goes! I would like to refit her with as many original parts as possible, but have had no luck finding a salvage/used web site or links to purchase used parts. I also need an owners manual. If anyone has info, insight or advice, please write! THANKS!

I don't know of any used parts places other than the classifieds on this site, but www.drmarine.com has a few new parts.

Thanks!

Thanks! I spoke with them a few weeks ago, and they can ship an owners manual, but they don't have much in the line of cabin, galley and head refit.

Try this site

Angela, Good luck with the refit project. Here's another site to check out for online classifieds that may help you -- the Oday Owners Unofficial Web Site. Also, for what it's worth, a friend and sailing buddy of mine recently unloaded his Oday 30 (insurance bought it after it smacked into a drawbridge and smashed the rig). As far as I know, everything about the boat other than than the rig and topsides is in good shape. Maybe the broker will sell it for parts. I'll post another response to this thread after I can find the web addy for the broker. If I come up with any more bright ideas, I'll pass 'em along. Pete s/v EmmieLou (O-322) Little Silver, NJ

Link to the other O-30

Angela, Here's the link to a YachtWorld ad for the Oday 30 I mentioned previously. Give the broker a shout -- what do you have to lose? Peter s/v EmmieLou (O-322) Little Silver, NJ

Denise, Oday 30

Hey Angela

I just bought a O30 this summer to TLC back to it's former glory (if it every had glory that is!) I don't see a great need to restore to orginal fit and finish. My feeling is a refit with todays better gear all around is a good idea. Do you have the basic layout in the cabin with the main salon seating around the table? Mine is most definately vintage 80s! Fushia cushions! How about the doors to the head and vee birth? A company called rig right has parts for some of the masts that were used by oday. we have a "isomat" Good luck! If i can help you with pictures of differant areas of the boat just let me know! fair winds Denise

We will Talk!

Denise, I do have the standard layout.... or will when i put it back together! I plan on shortening one of the seating/bunks to make room for a furnace, due to being a full time, live-aboard in New England. I also do not need as much sleeping room, living alone, and not planing on having that many overnight guests! Mast and boom are in great shape and fusha would be ok, if I had any! I plan on writing an online journal of my project for the grins and giggles of all and any support I can get! Pics to come... ~a

Tide Chaser

Richard, If you're looking for info on Tide Chaser, I can pass your email address along to Glenn Dietz, the former owner. (You can also access him through the "contact an O'day owner" feature under the owners' directory.) Glenn can tell you about the boat, but is not in a position to talk deal, since he no longer owns her. For that, you can reach out directly to the broker in Mendon, Mass. If you want to contact me directly, the email addy is pdodenhoff at jjay dot cuny dot edu. (Just take out the spaces and substitute @ for at and . for dot) Pete s/v EmmieLou (O-322) Little Silver, NJ
