I need a furler for my project H30. I would like opinions on the Profurl basic furler (b29l) that is being discontinued. I plan on eventually sailing to the Bahamas. Should I pass on the 1/2 price of the b29l or go for the c320?. Just would like to hear some input.

I have the c290 and like the simplicity of it, the install was easy and it furled like a dream, best boat expense so far

I have the Profurl b29l on my 30' S2 9.2A sailboat, it was relatively easy to install, I had the mast off the boat. It has been trouble free for the last 6 years and works just fine. It has not needed any replacement parts, but I would be sure that replacements will continue to be available.

I have a similar size Profurl and you jsut need to be sure that the furling drum has enough line capacity as mine just barley furls the 150 :)

Thanks for the input. I went ahead an ordered one from Defender. For $850 it's worth a shot anyway. Now just seeing if a place locally can do a wire luff to luff tape conversion for me.

I had that done once for my B235. The loft never mentioned that the jib's head board was large before doing the sewing- and the sail never would roll very nicely. Look at your head board and tack to make sure they can roll "roundly" and not eratic like a cam shaft lobe. I sold the sail through Bacons and bought a nicer, bigger, one from them.
