Profurl 1987 Hunter 37 Legend

I am having trouble with the (factory original) Profurl system. It unfurls perfectly, but when I try to furl, it is VERY hard. I have checked the angles, etc., and I think it may be the size of line I am running. I just bought this boat, and ran 1/2 inch line. Is that too thick? Should I be running a 3/8 line, or a specific braid? Please help me if you know what I should be doing, it would be very appreciated.Thanks in advance,Wilfwilfpins@autobahn.mb.ca

I just bought a 1989 37 and when we surveyed the boat, the furling line was broken. The drum appeared to be ok but I was told that Hood provided a replacement at no cost. I don't know the details, the owner/broker made the arrangements and the new drum was installed by the time I took delivery. The new drum is the "wind up" type versus the original "continuous loop".

Mailsail Furling

Do you have mainsail furling? If so, have you had any trouble with it, such as difficulty furling in a heavy wind? Thanks in advance for your reply. Jim Dort
