Well it sure looks like those china men just made a copy of the good all reliable Honda,but where you going to get parts or service if it breaks.
I don't know how much the Honda cost these days but every one I talk to said you can't beat those Honda's,I still have mine 2200 from 1995 or so don't remember for sure but it was when some hurricane hit Long Island,NY and I got on the long line at the store.

I ordered this believing Honeywell brand would be a reliable product. "Wrong", very difficult to start even following instructions. Finally got it running for an hour, then couldn't restart. Honeywell said to drop it off at one of their repair facilities which was 150 mi from my location. The repair facility checked it out and said they were unable to solve the problem. Honeywell then shipped another unit to replace the original. Can you believe it, the new one did the same thing. Ran for short time then you can't start it again. The repair guy said to forget this brand and buy a Honda. That is what I did, however I still have the Honeywell to dispose of. DON'T even think of… Read more

As a former Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki motorcycle wrench I can say you will be hard pressed to beat the reliability of a Honda. The big issue is Parts. With off brand crappola from China you are dealing with manufacturers that assemble a bunch of product, change models like you change your skivies and then good luck finding replacement parts. Honda, Yamaha ect. parts are a couple days away at most if not in stock and they carry parts for YEARS after the model is discontinued. Resale value is very good and I would have no problem buying a used Honda in good condition. Just have a tech at your local dealer give it a quick charging check and look over.
Most all of the good Honda motors have adjustable valves. Very easy to work on but dont neglect getting them serviced from time to time. If you do the general maintanence the engines will far out last the time of ownership in most cases.
That said I would also check out the Yamaha line. I met a gentleman camping last year. Just had to stop and comment on how quiet his rig was. Cant vouch for Yamaha as far as reliability but if they are anything like their motocross bikes, jet skis and sleds which they probably are I wouldnt hesitate.

I just picked up EU1000 off of craigslist for $375. They are out there if you are patient. Starts first time every time I have tried it and I cannot hear the thing run in the econo mode from about 20ft away. Next 4th of July we are going to do the light thing on boat for the kids. Get a honda, you won't be dissapointed. Chris
I just got two things to say about a Honda, 1) I ran mine on deck all night long under a persistent rainstorm. Next day took the covers off, sprayed it with WD-40 and it was ready for the next outing. 2) Was following a pickup truck one day and noticed a Honda 2000 generator sitting in the bed among some construction power tools. The generator looked like crap and the casings were broken but I knew these boys would not have it in the truck if it did not run.
I agree with everyone, the Honda is great. However I bought the Honeywell a year ago at 25% of the cost and have used it without a problem. Yes, it was a little difficult to start at first but after some runtime it starts with one or two pulls. If the thing gives me problems I figure it's disposable considering the price.
i was considering thinking about considering adding one to mmy power generating system, as the price is so low--but i am not certain--i need to see more of them running....honeywell used to be a reputable company and is a usa operation..they may have farmed out some work, but they still have ops here in usa.....
not to be argumenitive here but life is to short to be aggrivated with cheap items...and money is tooooo tight to think of spending in the desposable frame of mind IMHO...

I have been practicing "negative reinforcement" with Costco lately on crap items.
If it is something that I need, then I buy it @ Costco (on spec). If it works out, then fine, I got a good deal.
If it turns out to be a piece of excrement, then I just march it back for a full refind, and they can ship the garbage back to China. I make a point of telling them if them item is a piece of garbage.
If most members do this, then they will be forced to raise the quality bar. Value is often expressed as (quality / price ). If the quality is very low, then a low price is useless.
We *can* have an influence over garbage products - returning them to the vendor costs the vendor $$ in the long run - and will influence them to raise the bar to reduce returns and losses.

It is todays mentality of instant gratification that has driven us to a lower quality and disposable world. Im just a youngster at 47 yrs. but I remember when my parents saved long and hard for a good quality items. They didnt have the money to get everything they wanted when ever they wanted but a whole lot of what they bought is still around today. I am disgusted with the garbage that is sold in ALL the big box stores today. They have thrived on those who dont know what it is to save up for quality. This generator issue is a great example . But now even if you want quality goods the mom and pop stores that carryed all that wonderful stuff are well gone by. One fact remains and always will because it is dictated by the time and money spent to manufacture a product. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
