I just put on a 2001 9.9 4 stroke Tohatsu on my Hunter 25. Then extra weight made the bow rise approx 2 " and show my bottom paint. So I added some ballast,(approx 150lbs) in the v-berth storage areas down low to get my waterline level again. At 1/2 throttle I can get about 4 kts.At full throttle I only get 4.7 kts and I'm pushing water with the outboard transom. This is strange to me due to the fact when shes sitting on the calm water there is not much of the lower unit in the water, yet I'm getting the big boat trying to plane effect when I running at full and the water is damn near to the bottom of the motor casing. When sitting on calm water with no one in the boat my trim plates are parallel to the water. Is this correct? Is this a prop issue? I've heard there are "thrust" props which are very flat (no pitch) and "power" props (alot of pitch). I don't know the pitch of mine, but it looks like alot of pitch to it.It feels like the prop is really "digging" and pulling the stern down. I feel I should be able to approach my hull speed of 6.5 kts with a 9.9hp motor. What can I do to change this?
