Has anyone had problems with their fuel injectors?. My rpm's kept going up and down with my engine also dying, as I moved my boat from the Hudson River to the Long Island Sound this past weekend. A quick look by a mechanic 5 minutes and $60, this was the conclusion besides having a hole in my exhaust manifold. THanks, Richard PS The boats for sale after this trip

Check this out....

On my '83 H34 I had similar problems... rpm going up and down, and engine dying. Finally, after many mechanics attempts that did nothing, I pulled the fuel pickup tube from the tank. Guess what - it was completely clogged with black gunk. There is a screen filter inside the tube that was clogged, so that the engine was being starved. I removed the screen cleaned the pickup an voila - everything was fine. I immediately replaced the fuel lines, installed a Racor primary filter, and have used a biocide ever since - never a recurrence. Good luck, Derek

Three Things

Hi, There are three things for your engine to run properly. Air, fuel and compression. Do the "cheap" fixes first, be sure the exhaust elbo is not clogged, be sure the filters and fuel are clean, if both of those are fine, suspect the injectors. You may try this if you are mechanically inclined. Start your engine, with the engine running on idle, open the nut on the fuel in line of each injector, if the engine stumbles and stalls, the injector is working, if nothng happens when you open the line, that injector is not working, and the engine needs help. I just went thru this myself!
