Hunter 22 traverse city
Hi all,

I'm in the process of buying a 1985 hunter 22, has been well taken care of and stored inside most all of the time. I am wondering if there are some specific areas that I need to check on. I know some boats are known for specific issues and areas that you need to inspect. Was hoping that you all might be able to point out any issues things to look for in this model.

Thank you for your time.

Click the Boat Info tab, then the 22 and you should see some reviews by owners.

Good luck!

We owned a 22 for a couple of years and really enjoyed it. Inspect the teak strips behind the seats in the cabin for water signs. That could mean toerail leaks. Make sure the cockpit drains are in good working order - they're plumbed kinda odd and you'll need to squirm back under the cockpit to see them. The area around the mast base should not have any sort of depression. The deck should have a smooth curve downward from the step. Check the rudder for splits or other major gelcoat flaws.

Everything else is normal for a pre-purchase inspection (hardware, sails, mast, boom, rigging, motor, motor bracket, stantions, etc.)

Best of luck!
