Debating manual vs electric. -don't electric heads sort of have a metered amount of output whereas a manuals output is determinewd by how many strokes you use to flush. -does the somewhat randomness of the volumn delivered to a lectrasan by a manual cause any problems? enough to cause any favor for going with an electric with its consistend volumn used and delivered? Thanks Ps. In my last post you asked if I had 1 head or 2. that would be 1 head. considering that I have 4 people living aboard and am installing a lectrasan what would an appropriate tank volumn be. Thanks again

L/S works equally well with manual or electric

Electric toilets don't "meter" the amount of flush water unless an optional timer is installed on the switch...they flush as long as you keep your finger on the button. You want to keep the volume to a gallon or less to prevent untreated waste from being discharged (it discharges by overflowing), but what's most important, no matter whether the toilet is manual or electric is flushing long enough to move the waste all the way from the bowl into the Lectra/San...it can't treat waste left in the hose between the toilet and unit. How big a holding tank you need in addition to the Lectra/San depends on how much time you expect to spend on an anchor where there are no pumpout facilities in "no discharge" waters where you can't legally use the Lectra/San--which, as I said, are few and far between in your waters...the only one I know of in FL is the marine sanctuary off Key West...and you can't even dump gray water there, so it's unlikely that you'd anchor there very long. I'd think that 15 gallons should be enough to see all of you through an overnight in a "no discharge" marina.

Don't OVER -think/engineer it...

It's not rocket science...in fact, it's all really pretty simple as long you follow directions and don't decide to improve on them. You'll just tie yourself up in knots trying to get answers to every conceivable question before doing anything...and if you ever DO succeed in doing that, I'm turning the HM forum over to you!
