Priming Fuel System on a W20B

Fellow Sailors. I have a Westerbeke W20B on a Cat 270. I am getting ready to check and replace the fuel filters on the engine and water separator. To prime the system after replacing the filters the service manual says to turn on the ignition switch for about 1 minute and allow the electric fuel pump to prime the system. Nothing else. Is that all there is I need to do? Am I missing something? Also any additional wisdom on the subject will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Steve

Yes, plus open the bleed screw on top of the spin on fuel filter until all the bubbles are gone. When replacing filters be sure to fill completely with fresh fuel, rock from side to side to release air bubbles before installing. Pretty easy, all in all. Let engine run to make sure you don't have air in lines.

Good luck!

Yep with the Mitsubishi based Westerbekes just turn the key and wait for the clicking of the pump to slow. Neat, clean and as easy to bleed as it gets...
