My Jabsco head unit is only 2 years old. I've replaced the joker valve twice. Used Sealube. The air vent is open and clear. No blockage in the loop. So can anyone tell me why I cannot pump water up from the intake valve on a regular basis. I've had to PRIME THE PUMP by removing the hose at the top of the pump assembly, then add water,(and reconnecting the hose)-before it will function properly. Then it's the same routine a few days later. Does anyone else have to do this frequently? Any and all suggestions, greatly appreciated. Jerry

I did check for blockage....

Hi Todd - Thanks for replying, but there in NO obstruction in the seacock. Because when I remove the small hose (from the back of the pump assembly) that supplies the water to the bowl, PRIME IT, then flip the lever to the wet position - it pulls water up through the seacock with no problems. And it functions fine for the day. But when I come back a few days later, I have to go though the same routine again. Do you think that this is just a bad joker valve or what? Jerry

head time

We were recently on an extended boat trip and had the same problem w/our toilete & had no means to fix it, so added fresh water from a jug in the head. We were happily surprised at how slowly the holding tank filled up. You really don't know how much water you are pumping in. Checked w/ some other foilks on the cruise & found this to a very common pracrtice. In other words you may be better off as it is.
