PRICE OF BOATING GOING UP New MacGregor Price to Increase Notice Posted from Dealer Net: Just received word from the MacGregor factory. Effective January 15, 2007, the price of the 26M and several of its options are due to increase. The new base price goes from $19,990.00 to $21,500.00 Additionally, the following options have been re-priced: Genoa: $425.00 Jib: $260.00 Mast Raising System: $135.00 Bimini: $575.00 Swim Ladder: $155.00 Its been a long time since the factory increased prices. So this really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The cost of oil has obviously had a big impact on production costs. Both in materials and ancillary items such as electricity. All in all, the Mac still remains the best boating value for the dollar.

My club dues, slip and yard fees all went up :( At least we don't have the fuel costs that the stinkpots do!

You, Yours, Not trying to hijack this thread but I don't see an obvious way to PM you here. Ever been to sailnet and if so what is your experience and opinion of those guys.

I gave them a scolding!

Well there is a thread under general discussion regarding the Macgregor and after reading some of the spurious & snide remarks in their flames I took it upon myself to give them a long lecture on sailor manners. I use the same moniker there too. Drop by your old Magregorsailors site some time. I think they miss you over there as TT. PS Good to hear from you to! Terry the BOWMAN

increase

With the way all raw materials have gone up that doesn't seem like such a large increase. I'm guessing Roger is really getting squeezed and loathe to raise prices on all you tightwads;)

Mistress

The famous saying: As far as mistress go, both boat and women cost money. Boat has less social impact i.e. home wracking. The cost to buy joy - priceless! My 2 cents.

Exactly

I told my wife when I bought our M that at least I was getting a corvette and chasing woman half my age;)

Don't like the price? DIY

Ok, think you can build one cheaper? Here's the factory supplier site listing all the parts and materials that go into making a 26M (actually about 600 26M's... a year's run). http://www.macgregor26.com/suppliers_corner/commodity_list.html Roger's net can't be more than $5K per unit! (about $3M total before taxes) Happy sails *_/), MArk
