Pressure Water System on 28' Oday

Just bought this boat and new that hot & cold water system wasn't working. Am trying to diagnose the problem but without much success. The Jabsco Pump model # 44010-2 2.5 GPM runs but doesn't seem to have much suction. It's a newer pump but is remounted and was wondering if the mounting location is correct. It is currently mounted under head sink with pump above water tank inlet lines? Also, I have an optional second tank if that makes a difference. Both tanks are full and eliminated vent issue by removing filler cap for testing purposes but still no water flows.

Appears that there is some air in supply lines but thought pump would handle that since it is self-priming.

Is someone has same boat and could post pictures of their installation that would be great.

I have the same boat and have the same problem. My pump is mounted on the bulkhead under the sink in the head. I have only one water tank which is mounted under the starboard lazarette. I believe that the problem is that although the pump is supposed to be self priming, it is sometimes difficult to prime. I have had to remove the inlet side going to the pump and replace temporarily with a short section which i place in another water source that I can lift above the pump. I then run the pump, with faucets open to get the pump started. I also such water from the inlet pipe to make sure that water is free to run from the tank. Then I hook up the water inlet pipe to the pump and run with faucets open again and it works. Should be easier than this but I have had to do this several times when recommissioning. One more thing - the cap on the deck should be ON when pumping as that is what allows the negative pressure to build up.

The pump on our 28 is in the same location (but without the optional tank) and we haven't had any problems. We did add an accumulator tank on the pressurized side to eliminate some problems with the pump short-cycling. There is likely a filter on the intake lines before the pump. You may want to check that it is not clogged. You say that there is little suction - where are you measuring that? At the pump itself or somewhere else?

There is a filter on the inlet and it was clogged but is now clear. I removed inlet hose from pump and put my hand over pump inlet and felt no suction.

Sounds like you may have something clogging the valves in the pump, or the pump is simply bad. I took my pump apart and found foreign particles in it and once cleaned, worked well again. Since you have no filter (I did not either) this is a likely cause. Try taking the pump apart (carefully) and cleaning. Not too difficult a job.
