Thanks for the ideas on exterior wood. Now here’s another question. What treatment will cover pressure-treated wood? Regular latex exterior paint tends to fall off quite quickly.
Pressure treated wood is usually southern yellow pine and it doesn't take and hold paint well. There are some acrylic primers that work pretty well. Talk to the people in Shirwin-Williams or one of the other major paint companies.
I have had good luck with Cetol Marine (the orangey stuff) over 2" x 4" exterior railings. Not only does it seem to stick well but it changes the color of the wood from green to 'orangey' brown.
