Thanks for the ideas on exterior wood. Now here’s another question. What treatment will cover pressure-treated wood? Regular latex exterior paint tends to fall off quite quickly.

i don't have experiance with that on a boat, but i would probably try using an exterior primer like kilz before painting with latex.
Pressure treated wood is usually southern yellow pine and it doesn't take and hold paint well. There are some acrylic primers that work pretty well. Talk to the people in Shirwin-Williams or one of the other major paint companies.
