Hi All, we had a great weekend on the boat with wonderful weather and nice wind. one glitch howeve, firday night the mrs discovered blue liquid on the floor in the aft room and I traced it to the septic pumpout where the blue stuff we put in to keep odors down were seeping out slowly. It appeard that pressure had been building in the tank for X amount of time and now finally found a weak spot. I relieved the pressure fom the outside inside by opening the main cap on the tank.... I have come to believe that the vent hose must be clogged somehow, the very next day we pumped out the tank and been airing it thru the pumpout ever since... Hwwever, does anyone have any good ideas on how to check for and unclog the vent ? PS WHen pumping out I filled the tank up with water after cleaning it and wanted to see if water would come out the vent, it did not... but I'm not sure this is a true test since the vent isnt designed for liquid. any advice appreciated Gaute

pressure

the vent could be cloged or you may have put too much in. Try forcing water under pressure through the vent line. Also check if you have an inline filter.

no filter

Hi rh. I dont have a filter so its right from tank out... I'll put something down the vent line and to the tank to make sure its all clear, I'll try a hanger first and see if that works. By pressure do you mean sending water thru from the outside ? That was on my mind but I wasnt sure of the effect since its a narrow pipe and sort of goes up a few inches....

might try

Use a garden hose with a nozzle and squirt water into the outside vent opening. This has cleared mine of mud dobber nests.
