Amen!

P.S. Snotter what software are you using to draw your wiring diagrams. I am looking for a simple software for a non-computer type of guy and I've yet to find it..?

Sorry for the hijack question.. Now back to your regular scheduled programming.;)
I am using PowerPoint 2007. I am not a proponent of the software. If anyone knows of a good electrical circuits CAD package in the public domain (or cheap) many of us sailors would be interested.

Another vote for Visio. Once you create an "object" such as an alternator, you can easily store it in a template file for later use. Software for schematic capture may be too specific and limited more to actual circuit schematics and can have features you don’t need (such as device models or checking a circuit schematic to a physical layout). For example, adding a component such as an alternator, solar panel or outboard to the drawing would likely be difficult with schematic capture software - but easy with Visio. I think Visio is fairly easy to use. I also don’t know what it costs but suspect its not all that cheap. It might come with Microsoft office now?

Once you’ve created a drawing, just save as jpeg for internet posting. You can easily do things like import pictures into your drawings.

Walt, thanks for the advice. Fortunately, my job has a subscription to Miscrosoft; I'll install Visio today. I am hoping my alternator and regulator will arrive today. I plan to add the regulator circuit to the diagram just as soon as I get it figured out. Nigel Calder's Electric Manual book is a great help.
