Centerboard line breaking
I’m a satisfied Precision 23 owner. For two years in a row the line for raising the centerboard has frayed and broken near where it attaches to the bottom of the centerboard. Has anyone had this problem? Any solves?

Line breaking is not unusual. It would be a bit of a pain every year. Some owners of centerboard boats prefer a more permanent solution like wire cable instead of fiber line. You might also inspect the area around the line to see if a rough edge or sharp corner is causing the chafe of the line.

Choosing Dyneema line may help.

Agree with câble plan. It is not well refined and finished f/g up in the centerboard space and hard to get to to make it so.

Something is rubbing against the line causing it to fray. I fear that replacing it with a cable would cause the fiberglass that's currently rubbing, to be cut into by the cable

I had a Starwind 19. It was also a Jim Taylor design with the same centerboard mechanism as the Precision 18 and others. I replaced the line but never did resolve the chafing issue. I would call Precision
