The missing, and sadly presumed drowned, sailor is a friend from church. Tom just returned to sailing this summer with a Sunbird which had been his late father's boat. The lake he was sailing, Hoover Reservoir in Westerville OH, is also my home sailing water.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – On Sunday crews resumed the search for a boater that went missing Saturday night on Hoover Reservoir after the boat suffered a power failure.

The Columbus Fire Department says five boats went in the water just before 10:00 a.m. Sunday. The search area is wide, and crews are using sonar hoping to find something in the murky water.

On Saturday a sailboat lost power after leaving Red Bank Harbor, and drifted into a sandbar where the boat got stuck. One of the boaters hopped out and attempted push the vessel back out into deeper water. The man never returned to the boat.

The search for a missing boater on Hoover Reservoir has ended for the second day and will resume on Monday.

"We're going to start with a clean slate tomorrow," Genoa Township Fire Deputy Chief Joe Ponzi said Sunday evening.

Divers checked three locations based on sonar searches but none turned up the body of the 54-year-old man missing since Saturday afternoon.

Sorry for all the posts on this but there are many lessons to be reinforced and/or learned from it.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Investigators tell 10TV that a body has been found in a search for a man who went overboard last weekend in Hoover Reservoir.
The discovery comes after firefighters received a 911 call about a man who went underwater late Saturday.
Genoa Township Fire Department Deputy Chief Joe Ponzi says two men had been sailing in the reservoir and were on their way to a dock when their motor lost power. The boat then drifted onto a sand bar and became stuck.
Mixter jumped into the water to try and free the vessel, but could not get back on the boat. He then slipped underwater after hanging on to the side of the boat.
Search crews with sonar equipment combed three miles of the Hoover Reservoir over the weekend but could not find the 54-year-old.
Over the weekend, Chief Ponzi wondered to 10TV as to why the men decided to sail in the dark. "If they had just had life jackets; a life jacket probably would have made a life and death difference for this gentleman,” Ponzi said.
