Hello all! I'm picking up a C27 that is pretty much ready to go in the water, but could use some work to make it more...comfortable.

One thing i'd like figure out before it goes in is whether i can get power on board fairly easily. The boat originally had an inboard, with its attendant switching and such. Some previous owner removed the inboard. It currently uses a Honda outboard (hung off the stern like a C22) and nothing electrical on the boat is connected. Apparently the outboard does have an alternator, but there are no connections into the boat.

So, can simply install a battery for lighting, connecting to the switch panel? Could I then run a line from the outboard/alternator to battery? I have no idea if anything actually works... i guess it's been years since the inboard removal...

Yes you can easily use the outboard alternator to charge your battery provided the alternator has adequate amperage output.

You will have to make sure all circuits are properly wired to the main panel, the battery will power the main panel and the alternator will charge the battery.

You will have to figure out how to run the cables cleanly to the battery. This means the run should be well protected and hidden if possible.
