I was about to start using a 1650 psi high pressure washer to clean the deck of my 1990 H30 when another sailor shared a horror story with me. Specifically he told me that his use of power washer on the deck of his C&C 34 amplified the width of cracks on the deck and subsequently increased the moisture level in some areas. As a result he was now looking at some serious $ to cut the cracks open, dry the moisture, and seal them. There are no visible cracks on my deck except for a small web pattern (about 5x5 inches area) around one of the stanchions that is part of the forward pulpit. What's your experience regarding power washing the deck? Do the benefits outweight the risk of damage and what's the worst damage that you can get from using a relatively mild powerwasher (1650 psi)?
