New problem. Does anyone know a source for a power distribution panel that includes and amp and voltage meter that will fit in the same hole that exists on the Hunter 28.5? I have found that Hunter leaves the boats with a spagetti mess that is not labeled and no meter to monitor the electrical draw. I plan on correcting the labeling problem and untangle the wiring and would like to change the panel to something more functional. Any ideas? Also what is the address of the 28.5 group on Yahoo? Adapt a commercial panel
Mike, I made up a larger panel for my Coronado 27 using several commercial panels and an ammeter. Photo attached. Just straightened out the spider web of factory wiring behind my H34's panel-labeling's next, then adding another 6 circuit sub panel. Dan Johnson "Intrepid" H34 #113

The 28.5 site is; http://groups.yahoo.com/group/huntertwentyeightfive/ If you are upgrading the panel, you might want to upgrade to two size 27 batteries, go up one size on the battery cables and wire them through a selector switch. I used a 'Smart switch' which I don't believe is manufactured anymore, but it does have LED indicators of the voltage level. I mounted the second battery at the front of the starboard sail locker with the switch on the companionway port side sidewall below the teak step. That location can be reached from the cockpit or the cabin and the step provides some splash protection. Cables drop straight down thru the engine compartment; forward under the cabin sole to the battery under the galley sink; and aft on the engine fire wall to the starboard side sail locker.
