There is a good reason that the law uses the terms "under the influence". So that your actions can be judged and not your beliefs. You may believe that any drug may be ok and legal. Under the influence of the drug your actions may not be ok and this can have an affect on your day. Yes the CG are not the Washington State police. So if your interest be it medical or recreation, leads to the question "Are you under the influence..." then the likely hood a bad day is about to happen is pretty close to 100%.
I thought we were talking about the idea of growing herbs and the possibility that the containers could become an unwanted flying object in the cabin/salon of a boat.

Uh, we are. Hang the pots in baskets from the cabin ceiling, and string a line from the bottom of the basket to a hard point below it for rough passages.
I always thought an "air plant" like a Bromeliad or Tillandsia would do well on a boat. In some kind of decorative setting (driftwood, seashell, etc), mounted near the companionway where it would get some good indirect light.
For what it is worth, I am going to experiment with plants that the internet claims repel mosquitos. Bonus for the ones that are edible, Basil, Rosemary, and Mint.
Historically, I am not good at keeping plants alive in a stable environment, so this should be interesting on a moving boat, with poor light, and high chance of salinity.
