You can now post a photo in connection with your article by checking the 'photo' box located on each forum menu. While some new and improved code makes the file name less critical, your photo must be in jpeg format and _must_ be under 80k (approx. 80,000 bytes). Please note that almost _all_ photos taken directly from a digital camera are too big! You can reduce the size of a photo by (1) reducing the overall size to 500 x 500 pixels or smaller, (2) reducing the resolution to 72 dpi, (3) saving it with maximum jpeg compression. Also, please note that the forum will only accept one photo per post. If you need multiple photos to tell your story the Photo Forum allows any quantity. If you have suggestions or comments on how this could work better for you please let me know. Enjoy! ph. P.S. I have attached a baby photo of my daughter as a demo. She's a teenager now, so if you never hear from me again you'll know why.

Sounds good, wish I . . . .

use it Phil. Still cannot get pictures to post to the Photo Forum. I'll try a photo over on the Cherubini forum.

Great feature.....But........

Phil, that's a great feature, but it doesn't seem to work for my forum, when I access the posting from my forum, there is no photo link. Keep up the good work! Regards Bruce Neon Moon

Always wondered...

What you looked like Phil... Now, I know that the mean age of the technical sector is lower than average, but that's ridiculous. Seriously though - this is a great feature. I plan on using it. Can you recommend a good program for reducing the dpi (other than a monster like Photoshop, etc..)? Thanks, Rob

To Bruce, Rob, Ed

Bruce - I should have mentioned in my post that it is not enabled yet on My HOW forum, subject to a good solid testing in the 'regular' forums. I'll have it added in the next day or two. Rob - Adobe Photodeluxe is pretty easy to use and comes free with many cameras and/or scanners. If not it's inexpensive. Anyone else have suggestions? Ed - the code for this feature is improved over the photo album and photo forum - I believe you'll be able to use this without any problem. Let me know!

Photo forum unchanged

I'll be using these new methods in that code shortly. Watch for the announcement - chances are good your upload will be successful to the Photo Forum at that time.

Picture Symbol

I like this new photo feature but am wondering whether on the New Articles Menu you could also add a symbol or something to indicate that a photo in addition to text will be found when the posting is accessed.

Cute Kid

Phil, you are doing a great job and I like the photo deal. BTW, she was/is a cute kid. I seem to recall Jimmy Buffett or someone saying something like<when they turn in to teenagers, bury 'em; and dig 'em up when they're 28?>

He had the best line: ' Children under 12 should be kept in a barrel with only a single knothole. When they turn 12, plug up the knothole.' Teendom is not easy, but so far everyone is surviving. It gives me new sympathy for my own parents.
