I'm considering adding a bimini which would necessiate losing 1 inch of space under the boom to accommodate the steel tube arches, and therefore having to "duck" while standing at the helm. ( I'm 6 ft.) If I were to raise the boom at the end by shortening the topping lift 1 inch or so, would I be creating a problem when furling the main back into the boom? S.L. Japhe

Raising the boom

SLJ; With the boom raised higher than designed, it would be nearly impossible to achieve proper leech tension, resulting in a lot of twist and loss of power.

Raise Topping Lift

On my 381 there appears to be at least several inches of room to move the boom and not effect the roller furling. I would suggest you try it and see what happens before you order the bimini...ken Nolan

Shouldn't be a problem. Did it to my 370

This spring, I had a bimini top installed on my 1991 370 with in mast main furler. I had to raise the topping lift an inch so it would clear. There has been absolutely no side effects what so ever! The mast still looks good at rest also. Fair winds! Jack Oceanis 370
