A quick follow-up. I've checked both Thrifty Mariner and the Pompette sites for replacement portlights for the H 37C, and both look fine, and identical. Why the big dollar difference? It looks like they are $118 each at Pompette and about $55 at TMI? I know there has to be a reason, but before I order, want to make sure I know what I am doing...... Thanks,

Outlet prices.

Sanders: The products from The Thrifty Mariner are suppose to be seconds, overstock and/or surplus. I think that this is a way from Bomar to have a retail outlet. Not sure that there is any difference, or that the products are really seconds. Some owners have reported that the products where actually shipped from Bomar.

Think Steve is right.

Sticks in my mind that Thrifty Mariner is owned by a Pompanette employee(so maybe Pompanette?). Just a way to get rid of seconds. I have two of the large hatches that I bought from Thrifty and cannot find the flaws if any. Really priced right.

Special Orders

I have replaced elliptical ports (3) in my L37 and the first time, I ordered from Pompanette. Then, the next time, I called the special orders desk of Boat/US and got the same port for 25% cheaper. Ironically, the part was shipped from the same distributor location when they were sent to me.

Thrifty

I remember the guy at Thrifty (Jeff I think). Saying something about being at the factory. From this I assumed he is an employee of Pommett that buys the "seconds" and resells. Pat McCartin 1979/80 H30 "Therapy" Lake Lanier, GA

Sailnet is the place to go!

I negotiated a price at the Annapolis boat show of less than $40 something for the 5x12s and $50 something for the 7x15s. All 10 are installed and factory first condition. (Big project!) The materials that came with the portlights indicated that I should use 5200 adhesive. A sticker on the lens indicated Silicone. I went w/ 5200. My hand still hurts. (5200 is very stiff, and it took almost 10 large caulking tubes)
