Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep out the mornig sun and/or provide privacy while in the slip while still letting air move through open portlights? My portlights open inward so curtains, shades, and blinds only work with the portlights closed.

solar screen

On a cruise a couple of weeks ago one of the participants needed to be out of the sun, their answer was solar screen, it was heavier than regular screen but easy to cut and fashion. To say it was impressive would be a understatment. Some that tried it said it was like sitting behind air condition, Lowes, H/D and most hardware stores have it in stock, you might give it a try.

I purchased pleated blinds...

...right from this site. They work great and were considerably less than competitors. For the ports in the head, I used blue sky/cloud patterned Mylar window film. Cheers, Bob

Shades for Ports

Check out Peek-A-Boos from Zarcor. They mount directly on the window using small velcro tabs. No problem with opening the ports with the shades installed. These are great for privacy and blocking direct sunlight, but they are not "room darkening".

Port Shades with a flair

The Admiral (SHMBO) made shade covers our of medium heavy posterboard covered with a fabric that matched the interior design (cut to fit inside the port on the cabin interior). She then put a couple of small pieces of velcro hooks in the inside of the ports and a small strip of velcro hooks along the edge of the shade cover. The port shades stick in place and hold just fine. That can also be done with thin tinted plexiglass or other material to let in a limited amount of light.
