I have a question that maybe a bit out of the ordinary but I'm sure that someone has run up on this type of problem or has an answer for me.I trimmed the interior inside edge of my portlights with manila rope.( my ports are flat plexiglas with 1/4 teak plywood over them and I used 1/4 rope to trim around this edge which is rectangluar) I used a hot glue gun to attach it and it looked and worked fine for about a month then it began to pull loose from the corners...could my problem be that maybe there was some moisture in the manila rope and after being exposed to the sunlight and heat that the rope shrank causing it to pull loose from the corners? If this is the problem could I solve it by placing the rope in the hot sun to shrink before I replace it or is the problem the glue that I uesd? Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.
