I've reviewed the archives for information on how to remove only the port "lens" but I cannot seem to locate what I'm looking for. I'm simply trying to replace a few plastic lens. I have replacements, but I can't seem to work the two pins out that holds the existing lens in place. Are they screwed in place? Should I hammer them out with a punch? Any help much appreciated.

Use a punch - with care!

I have changed the lenses on several portlights and have used a punch with as small a diameter punch as possible. Once you get the pin out a little you can grab it with a vice grip and gently pull while your assistant taps on the other end. The greatest danger is that you will break the plastic hinge. If the hole for the pin becomes enlarged or otherwise damaged, you can use a long thin bolt with a wingnut as a replacement. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. I look forward to some delicate punching this weekend....

the previous owner

The previous owner actually had 3 extras. They aren't very clean, but at least the plastic is intact so I can lock them in place to seal out the water.

Portlight lens

If your ports are Bomar/Gray plastic, the lens is available from Sailnet or Pompanette[ordered four this morning from Sailnet] Having just eliminated the ankle biters and having AC i needed to open ports to clean grinding dust out, first time open in who knows how long. All four lens were in pretty sorry shape as far as cracks.
