Head to the Old Port. Lots to do there. When are you visiting? I am not sure if the schooners are running yet but a ferry tour around the harbor is also nice.

Becky's is a good local spot but can be very crowded. There are a lot of great restaurants and microbreweries in the Old Port.

Thanks, guys.. Staying downtown at the waterfront, so both of those and Duck Fat are on the list.. Hoping to get out to one of the little islands, Diamond or Peaks, to walk a bit. I could be happy with standing in a boat yard and watching the boats go in but SO is not so interested in that !

I forgot about Duckfat. There are 3 great resturants in that block. Duckfat, Ribolitas and Norm's BBQ(great lobster stew)

Unfortunately Jodan's Meats burned down yesterday so it may not be a great view.

Check out MS boat

Kloudie,
Why don't you stop by and check out Mainesail's boat. Let us know if it is actually a boat, or if he just takes pics of projects in the garage. Just looks to clean to be an actual boat.:)

Maine Maritime Museum is in Bath just south of BIW. 45 minutes from Portland. Great place to visit. Lymen is quite a ways away from Portland though. I think their nearest Yard is in the Thomaston area. If you do go that far then the Owl's Head tranportation museum is cool. Lots of unique cars and planes. And don't forget to check out the Olsen farm in Cushing.

EVERYBODY wants to go to L.L. Beans. Delormes is 7/8 of the way there. You can take a ride thru K'port and check out the Bush compound at Walker's Point. If you're a James L Nelson fan, he lives past Bath and works with the Maritime Museum. You might hook up with him. OK, I'll say it . . . Portland Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse in America (not counting Miss Liberty). Just keep in mind, to fit in everything is "Wick'd goud! Yessah!"

Well, I can say I have seen her and she is real and is beautiful. The red convertible is his father's car although MS has a sweet M3 convertible.

The Art Museum in Portland is well worth a visit. (Winslow Homer seascapes, etc.)

Nice walk from DiMillo's Old Port Marina where we usual stop on our way farther up the coast. Nice break for the Admiral that doesn't involve "yet-more-boat-stuff."

Fair winds,

Portland = Delightful

Just back from Portland, Maine.. Yesterday was GREAT.. Roger Long took us on a "round the islands" sail that still has me grinning..A bit over 70F and 12-15 kt wind most of the day.. A beautiful bright blue clear day.. It was a treat to meet him and sail in Stryder ! The heater and water tank look better than the pictures! We had a fine time exploring and sightseeing and enjoying some restaurants.. Thanks all for hints about Portland, and MANY THANKs to Roger for his hospitality..
