Does anyone with a Hunter 27 ~ 1980 have the following information about porthole (portlight) screens? My boat is 350 miles away right now. 1. type of frame: I think plastic versus aluminum, right 2. Shape of frame (I think its rectangular with rounded corners, right? 3. what type hinges...molded or screwed? 4. What are the hatchdogs like (fasteners to hold the inside window in place)? 5. Dimensions of the inside of the window well..length and width inside the window where the screen would rest). THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Linda

Porthole Screen

Hi Linda! Wow, what a coincidence--I was browsing this morning for cutlass bearing replacement advice and saw your log that was just entered (MY Hunter27 is a '79 and also in Milwaukee!). Anyway, I think you can find this at Kendor Marine (Ryan Road in Franklin). You have to do a little searching, for they are a used part warehouse situation, not like Boaters Plus or West Marine, but a great place for less. Send a reply so we can communicate!

You can buy them new

Linda, I went four cold years to Marquette University. The original manufacturer of the portholes is right here in Tampa, alive and doing well. They are now a division of Pompanette. They still manufacture the screens and from what I recall the prices were very reasonable. I have purchased the dogs from them and the seals and their service has been very good. Find their web page under Pompanette and you can order directly.
