When I bought my H26 the previous owner cautioned me about overtightening the knobs on my portholes. I noticed that one of the knobs seems to not want to thread all the way and seems to slip. How tight can you screw these down? What can I do about the knob that is slipping?

Porthole problem Response

Dave, The knobs screw in so far then let go. Do I have to install new portholes or are replacement screws and/or knobs available?

Replacement parts

you can probably get replacement knobs at pompanette.com or beckson.com. If its screwing part way then slipping, sounds like the stud may be stripped, in which case its tough because the studs are held to the frame with pins that can be difficult to remove. Try the above sources from replacement studs if that is your problem. If all you need is a new knob, consider picking up the beckson cam latch locks instead of the knobs. You don't have to screw/unscrew them every time, just flip up and down. Much more convenient.
