Hi, Well for a lack of better terminology I will call it a Porthole awning. The one design flaw that gets me is the angle of the porthole, every time it rains, or drizzle I must close the porthole. I saw a boat that had plastic "Awnings" over the portholes so they only had to close them in a driving rain. Now after this long dissertation the question is??? Who sells them?? Thanks and best regards, Ricardo s/v La Vida Feliz :)

Which portholes?

Which portholes do you want to leave open? And when, at anchor or while sailing? I made an "awning" that goes over the staysail boom. It fastens with those hook type shock cords, three a side. I can sail with it if the staysail is not used. It allows me to leave the forward hatch and v-berth portlights open in almost any weather. Also good for shade, the v-berth stays cooler. Nice boat and website by the way. :)

Any porthole

Hi Ed, Any of the portholes, there all the same size. Down here often a squall will move across and I find myself scurrying to close everything. I do have sunbrella covers but dont always put them up when at anchor. I am speaking of the portholes not the hatches. These awnings I speak of attach over the existing porthole. Ricardo

You got it right

If you havent' already checked in at Sailrite.com I recommend you do. They have the product that will hold the awning to keep the rain from coming in through open portlights. I have a book titled "100 Fast & Easy Boat Improvements" by Don Casey. He calls them "Eye brow Awnings" I am pretty sure thats what you are looking for.
