Porta pottie leaks when flush valve is open

Whenever there's liquid in the bowl and the the flush handle is pulled, a small trickle shows up on the floor. This is the second portable head that I've had this happen to. Is there some maintenance that needs to be done to prevent this? I'm guessing that I need to remove the top half and reseat, replace or lubricate the seal between the two halves?

In a heated indoor warehouse. I did some research and it appears that I need a new o-ring and that it's supposed to be lubricated with olive oil every year. Can anyone confirm this lubrication proceedure?

Brand? model name/# ? With that info you should be able to find the manual for it online.

It's a Dometic 965 MSD. There wasn't a manual listed on their product page but I did manage to find one. It says to lubricate it with silicone spray or paste. I assume uric acid still affects the rubber? Is there any recommendations on conditioning it? I assume the lubricant just reduces abrasion as the blade slides past it

I believe its the top o-ring (346549) as there was one report of it leaking with the valve closed. If you use the head with the valve open, there is no leaking. I found the bottom o-ring for $20 on ebay. I'm going to call a dealer because this seems a bit high for just an o-ring. I will try some silicone in the mean time. I've used WD-40 as a temporary fix on worn out copier/printer rollers. It softens the rubber and works shockingly well for a little while. I find it ironic that a lubricant helps to increase friction to grip the paper.

UPDATE: It appears that these units have a two year warranty. I bought mine exactly 11 months ago. The bellow is also leaking. I reached out to Dometic. I'll let everyone know if their support is any good

I filled out the contact form on Dometic's website and waited a week and a half. Prepared for a long arduous process, I called them. The CS rep was very fast and efficient. I submitted pics and received an order confirmation for a new head the next day. Unfortunately, it showed that the ship date is two months from now. I reached out to them to see if this was accurate. While they said the unit was on backorder, they offered to send out a new valve the same day. Their product may be mediocre but their service has been top notch!
