Does anyboby know where to get porta-botes in Canada. Duties coming across form the USA are probably high. I am looking for a 10 foot and the closest dealer in NB told me he won't have one till may.Steve

Check with the porta-boat web site, they will give you the nearest dealer. I didn't think there were any duties with the US because of the NAFTA agreement. George

The last time I bought something in Canada

They made me pay the state sales tax on it when I took it across into Maine 5.5 cents on the dollar.

RichardThink yourself lucky, if I am in the States and buy something I pay the U.S. State tax, 7% I think in NY. And when I cross the border Back into Canada I pay another 15% CDN/Ont. Taxes If I have it shipped direct I save the local U.S. tax but still pay the 15% plus $32.00 brokerage if UPS or Fed-Ex. If the item can be mailed Canada Post just charge me a flat $5 brokerage plus the 15% !!!!!

Now if you buy from Canada and you're in the US you should be able to get 7% (goods and services tax) back on your Canadian purchase, by applying for a refund with the government. The tax is really only intended for us lucky Canadians.Peter
