I have not been up to take a look. I plan to use spinaker halyard to assist the 2 short stays to keep mast upright. Reading the manual, I find that there should be a wire or cable and a screw to secure shroud. . . this must have failed. She is a 1988 standard rig, spreaders are flat not round and metal. I am assuming that the old rubber boot may be the only thing stablizing this and keeping it from sliding off the spreader. I can't find diiagrams showing how this should be repaired but wish to be armed with materials I need when I go up. New boots, tape, and ??? I don't particularly want to go up several times. How do I tackle this?

I am really not sure as I have never been up my stick. The Catalina 30 owners association (Catalina30.org) may have some answers about that. You can also call the factory and they will give you information and from what I hear they are pretty good about this.

Good luck and let us know how it goes....Take Pictures!!!
