Wanted some privacy in the head when in marinas, but also wanted some air. So, made a port cover that attaches with a suction cup. I cut up an old car sunshade and covered it with fabric. Made a hole to push through the small side of the suction cup with hookie thingee removed.

Innovative. And does it open up the cabin space without the more typical mini-curtains?

I don't really know, rather it's a gut feeling; but it is possible that interaction between the suction-cup plastic and the port acrylic plastic might "etch" the port lens with round circles. Maybe not for the occasional overnight use but if left in place for long periods. Probably not, but might be worth keeping an eye on just in case.

When I have the need to obscure the view through a window I cut an acrylic panel for drop ceiling lights to fit the glass and secure it with clear caulk.

Only use it when in marinas, we anchor out most of time. At anchor, like to see out even if port is closed.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I back into my slip. When I am at my slip and need some privacy I hang a cover over my companionway. It is a cover that I use when I am away from the boat to cover my hatch boards and wood. I just snap the top two corners of this cover and let it hang down. With this on you can't see into the cabin. It does allow air to move through the boat too.

Privacy at a slip is important.

We use those velco dots and roll foil insulation from Home Depot. Helps reflect the heat from the Florid sun. No problems in 3 years except for an occasional dot replacement.

I made these for my Lewmar ports. Made them out of place mats trimmed to size. Gives my cabin sort of an islands feel. Wife loves them for the privacy they provide at the dock.
