Any one have the scoop on Laishley Park Marina,can a sailboat use it and access Charlotte Harbor,what's the route 41 height. If I live in Port Charlotte can I apply for a slip.

well i live in pt charlotte and have a hunter 37cutter. i just checked the chart i have here and the clearance of the rt 41 bridge is 45' so i can't make it under. fishermans village just opened the marina there after 2 1/2 years but i don't know much about it. my boat is in the back yard and if you check around there are many people willing to rent you their back yard for a reasonable rate. do you own here in PC or are you thinking of buying or do you just want to keep you boat here? what do you have and what are the spec's?

Yes I own in Kings Gate in port Charlotte,I should be moving full time some time at the end of 2007 full time. I have a new hunter 36 the height of 55'/58' and draft 5',I will be very interested in a slip in some one's back yard,thank's chet for the info I will keep in touch.

Back Yard?
ChetP what do you mean by "Rent you their back Yard"? Does that consist of a deep water slip behind their house? What would be an approximate cost for such a place, say for a 42 foot sail boat? Do these thing occur all over Florida? How long will they rent these little pieces of paradise? How do you find them? Sorry for all the questions but I have been worried about finding a slip in Florida for the future and did not know that was even a possibility.

I will contact you soon after the holidays,just to let you we don't plan on moving into our house until the end of 2007 everything depends on how long it takes to sell our house here in ny plus we want to spend one season up here with our boat while being retired,the sailing is really great but with our jobs we don't get to go too far,mostly day sailing but next summer we are planning to do more trip's to new destination's here in New England.
