pop top problems

hunter 25.5 KEY LARGO
My pop top on my hunter 25.5 has been sealed with 4200 or 5200, does anyone have pictures of it up or down so i can get an idea of what the mechanism is. is there any information on line how to open it up? i could not see any latches or locks. pictures are worth a thousand words.

Im in key largo and if anyone actually had one i coudl look at it would help out considerably. Im going to peel out the stuff and then go slowly to try and get it back to workable condition. but i dont know how it opens or shuts so im kinda shooting in the dark. thanks.

You'll also need a way to remove the caulk without breaking something. There is a product that will remove cured 3M 5200. The name is DeBond 2000. Do a Google for best source. It will also clean up most other adhesives including Liquid Nails and most sealants.

Pop Top

There is a photo in the "Boat Info" section for H 25.5's that might help. I think the name was "Sundance."

The top is supported by 4 tubes when up. There is a small thumb screw fixture on the mast that keeps the top from falling when up. The top is lifted and moves forward as it is raised and the tubes take on their supporting roles. Not really much to it. The tubes should be seen by peeking through the spaces made for halyards on each side of the companion way. There are screws with rubber gaskets in the places the tubes are attached to the top.

Thanks for the infor guys. I finally got it to release and found out that the poles are gone! UgH Does ayone have the measurement from the bottom of the place where the poles attache to the top where they attach? Looks like im going to have to fabricate a set.
