Thinking about the pop top canvas with screens for my new 240. The one in the Chandlery lists for about $400. Anyone had any experience with that versus a more standard dodger type unit?

look carefully

I have not seen the Pop Top other than in pictures, but I have an H-240 and asked about dodgers and Pop tops. The answers seemed to be that the then designed Pop Top was not strong and one could not sail with it up. I did not proceed. If I did go ahead I would get a Dodger maker to put on a unit one could use while sailing. Perhaps the newer Pop tops meet those specs. In any case it would be nice to have a proper dodger for sailing in the rain.

I have one

I have the H240 pop-top. We use it only while anchored/docked when we sleep out in the boat. Don't sail with it on - it adds windage and totally blocks forward vision. It is GREAT at extending the living space in the 240.

WHY?

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. I bought a 240 new and the sales guy talked me into it. Worst money I spent. The canvas I have has an aluminum pole and the perimeter of the canvas snaps into place. I have used it twice. Wish I had spent the money on a bimini instead. Can't sail with it up 'cause you can't see around it. You want it let me know bart5008@aol.com

Okay, I give up, what is it?

Maybe I was behind the barn when the brains were being handed out, but what in the heck is a pop-top?

Thanks Steve

I just went over and took a look. Very interesting. Looks like a VW bus's camper top.
