Recently I purchased a 1984 25.5 Hunter and have noticed that the cabin top, just at the entrance to the cabin, has four clamps. I presume that if the four clamps are released, the top will pop off. Is this true? Also, there are a number of cloth segments, with strings, that match the sail cover and the Bimini top. Where can I find out where and how these segments can be used?

If you open the clamps you can raise the top. It is on four folding legs and somewhat heavy. There should be a small hook (with a thumb screw) on the mast that will hold the top in a raised position. You do not want the top to fall unexpectedly. I put a cushion on top of my head and use my legs to raise the top and do the same to lower it. Don't know about the other items. I have no bimini.

Thanks for the explanation and the suggestion. I pressume that this is done to give you more head room and improve the air circulation. Next time I'm at the boat I will look for the hook on the mast.
