poopy in the bilge

me boat developed a foul odor in the bilge. After cleaning the thing out several timees i noticed when i used the head a slimmy brown discharge. The head pumps easily. Almost afraid to ask what the problem is. I have a 93 hunter legend. Any imput would be appreciated as this little problem is shaping up to be my weekend. thanks

Well . . .

I'll leave the expert opinion to Peggy, but my opinion is your basic failed hose to fitting connection somewhere. I would start at the head and trace it to the tanks. Hopefully you can get to the tank end of the hose. Unless something got cut during another project, I think its unlikely you're looking at a hose failure - though I guess its possible if it froze with effluent in it.Justin - O'day Owners' Web

If the bilge has what you think

Be careful how you handle the stuff while repairing & cleaning it up. It is considered a bio-hazard. And, if transferred from your bilge by any container or mechanism, you can't (legally) dump it overboard, either.Nothing is simple or easy anymore!
