Outstanding sailing on Lake Pontchartrain this past weekend.. Nice steady 15 KT southeasterly clocking to south on Sunday.. 75 degrees .. Beautiful out. Just the kind of day that the boat and its occupants revel in! Seems like the lake water has recovered from the intrusion of the Mississippi River last summer when they opened the floodgates of the Bonnie Carrie. The Water has a nice healthy look and we saw lots of mullet jumping. Hundreds of wild ducks are rafted up into half acre patches far from shore, waiting to head back up north where they don’t have to run the generator to sleep.. Alas, the pine tree pollen is falling now, making a feast for the algae and mildew.. Time to start scrubbing !

Was a beautiful weekend

Yeah, it was a beautiful weekend. Unfortunately with company here and boat chores to do, I didn't get to get out and enjoy it. Several neighbors were out though. Looking forward to meeting one and all at the raft up. Just two weeks to go.

Nice photo

Claude: Glad I'm not the only one with a 34 foot boat that simply drops the fenders back inside over the lifelines when sailing. Doing so much single handing got me in the mood to reduce work as much as possible!:):):)

Hey, Nice & Easy.. I am afraid I won’t be able to make the raft up.. My crew and deck ornament has to work that weekend.. I have a couple of other possible crew but they are iffy. I was looking forward to meeting some of the guys.
Stu, You are absolutely right. Unless I am going to be out for a few days, they stay on deck.. Not the prettiest sight but functional!.

Work

Claude,
Work is a four letter word, and I try not to use it a lot. Sorry you won't be able to make it, was looking forward to meeting up with you and yours. Chuck Creel called me a couple days ago, he is going to be out there sailing the week before. Hope I can join up with him for a day or two. I may be a little pressed for time, but will be there by Fri. night at the latest.

Nice & Easy.. Yes, I agree about work. I’ve been retired now for a little over a year.. The raft-up is around 100 miles for me so that is two days out and two back. I have been on Horn, Cat, and Ship but never landed on Petit Bois; I was looking forward to it.
