I can get the tank clean but I need to firmly(no leaks)attach the top fitting. It has been leaking for some time now.I'm replacing the hoses and the fittings . I just need to attach the fitting to the tank without any leaking. Any solutions? Any epoxy work?

Which part?

Skip: Which part of the fitting is leaking? The part that is welded to the tank or the fitting that screws into the tank? If it is the fitting that screws into the tank, you may want to try replacing the fitting. If it is the fitting that is welded into the tank, the only thing that is really going to work is to replace the fitting (if that can be done).

Its a polyethylene tank

with what appears to be pvc fittings (barbed) that seem to be screwed into the plastic (poly)tank that the hose from the head go into It's leaking where the fitting screws into the tank.

Wrap the threads on the screw in fitting with teflon tape and then screw in hand tight only. If the threads are leaking the teflon tape will seal them.

My Fix (it works)

I had a top fitting leaking from my poly tank and found a great solution. Since I had a inch and a half fill port I lowered a small thru hill fitting in the tank and put a rubber gasket on it. Then I put the nut on the outside and added the original vent hose. Lots cheaper than a new tank

Daryl, I really like your idea!

What kind if thru-hull, plastic, brass? How does the rubber/plastic gasket hold up? Is there a certain kind if rubber/plastic gasket that should be used? How about deterioration of the gasket? Now I'm excited. Thanks,The though of being hand tight really doesn't appeal to me, but if it works? Who am I ? I like the thought of cinching it down tight. The concept sounds logicial and the application isn't to difficult. Now as long as the components are compatable, we'll be in business! Keep it up, Ctskip
