I got a little crazy with the sander and did my handrails, slat boards and cockpit seats then applied a polyurethane coat on them. They look great then I noticed that its not supposed to be on exterior  doh!

How bad is this going to be in 6 months? What can i expect to happen?

Thanks!

When it gets beat up you'll be able to scrape it off easily. Especially if you just used it straight and didn't thin it.
Hey, I went crazy and replaced my teak with PVC deck lumber! Tallk about low maintenance:D!
A little crazy goes a long ways....

I've been considering the PVC route myself. Do you have a picture?

As Ron pointed out that the cut edges were unfinished and look like brown plastic. If those edges are sanded smooth will they have a grain? Can they be polished to a high gloss?

The material I used is a dense PVC foam so sanding doesn't help. I was looking at over $800 (now over $1k so my estimate was low) for teak stock for making new trim or $150 for the Azek.
I wouldn't replace good wood with this but mine was 44 years old and shot.

Have you considered using mahogany or white oak. When mahogany is Varnished it looks every bit as good a teak. I used it to replace all of the wood on the Mac 25.

I am considering white oak for the Luger, mostly because we have so much of it here at school it has been left out in the weather. I understand that white oak has a long history of use for boat building.

Our next door neighbor had a garage sale and could not sell her poster headboard. So she left it by the curb. From the front it look like crap. It was painted with dark brown paint. The back side unfinished is a really nice piece of hardwood. I will bring it to school and have the kids take it apart and run the 22"x70"x1" through the planer. It should make a beautiful saloon table.
I may use the post to replace the ugly aluminum compression post.

I'm not necessarily green but I am necessarily cheap.

Naw, I looked at Ipe and cherry but didn't want to deal with steaming and all that for the toerail. Beside that, while I know we don't get out ($$) what we put into them, the trim was just part of a refit and I have to keep the grand tally under control.
Plus, I'm a lot braver praticing my limited wood working skills on cheap materials!:)
It came out fine and I'm happy with it. Especially not sanding and varnishing which is a constant cycle in the FL sun.

Hey Frank, nice wood is pricey! I don't blame you I reuse anything I get my hands on!
